The previously existing school having been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, the Chalmette Elementary School is being constructed as its replacement. The new school will accomodate grades Pre-K through 5th and will also house a teacher resource center with conference space and meeting rooms. Supporting school curricula are a media center, gymnasium, and open play areas. ![]()
After complete devastation by Hurricane Katrina, the Lacoste campus is being re-built as a state of the art educational facility. The project includes a three-story, reinforced concrete educational building, which will be capable of withstanding future storms. Also included is an attached field house with gym, wrestling, fitness area, and a competition swimming pool. The entire facility will be linked to the Chalmette High School campus across the street by means of an overhead pedestrian bridge. Future plans envision a cultural arts facility to be connected to the educational buildings to facilitate sharing of resources. ![]()
The Langston Hughes Elementary School is the first of five "Quickstart" schools commissioned for replacement in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. It will be possibly the first LEED accredited school in the state of Louisiana with a silver rating. Phase I of the project includes classrooms, administration areas, cafeteria, resource center, and other support facilities; Phase II includes construction of the gymnasium, which itself will include a small stage area. ![]()
The renovation and expansion of a historic school building to provide space for the administration offices of the St. Tammany Parish School Board. The oldest portion of the building was left to be integrated into the new offices, which is 23,613 square feet of refurbished area and 33,036 square feet of new construction. ![]()
The Andrew Jackson School was heavily damaged from wind and flood water of Hurricane Katrina. The repairs to the 140,000 square feet facility included roof replacement, complete replacement of mechanical and electrical systems, new window systems to meet IBC 2003 requirements and new finishes and equipment throughout. New mechanical and electrial systems were designed to elevate essential equipment to prevent damage from future storms. ![]()
Construction of a single story, 15,500 S.F. pavilion for sports activities, including basketball and volleyball, with classroms, locker rooms, and storage areas. The activities pavilion will also accomodate small assemblies and is planned for future expansions. |
